Thyroid

Thyroid generally is Hypothyroid in the Bouvier it is a common issue in the breed that can cause mayhem in the dog's life as well as the owners existence with dog. The Symptoms of thyroid are many but these obvious symptoms can happen at any time from the dogs youth at 1-2 years old all the way to old age at 8-9 and older. Most thyroids seem to wear out as the dogs grown old and this is normal. It is easily medicated with and inexpensive oral treatment.

indicators that Thyroid needs to be diagnosed:

Bald spots
cuts or bites that do not heal
bumps and lumps like bites
many bumps that look like a rash
unusual water consumption that is high
food consumption is off
dull or dry coat
SOMETIMES TEMPERAMENT ISSUES

Now you can check thyroid and it may or may not show it is off, Wait a bit and if the problems persist you check again. Thyroid may also be an indicator of other things are off in the body. Thyroid is an early warning system.

Thyroid can easily be controled with thyroid meds that are not expensive, no difficult to be prescribed.

As the Bouvier grows older many times a healthy dog's thyroid wears out and thyroid meds are necessary. Not to worry it is normal in older dogs no matter the breed for this to happen.
